Rev D W Stephens, Jerusalem Chapel

Rev D W Stephens was the pastor of Jerusalem Chapel, Ystalyfera from 1914 until 1926 when he left for Taibach, Port Talbot.

In the Labour Voice newspaper of Saturday July 25th 1926 it was announced that Rev D W Stephens had given 3 months notice of his intention to leave:-

At Jerusalem Chapel on Sunday last a letter from the Rev D W Stephens was read intimating that he would terminate his duties as their minister three months' hence, in order to take up a similar post at Port Talbot.

From the Labour Voice newspaper October 2nd 1926

On Sunday evening, the Rev D W Stephens, BA, delivered his last pastoral sermon at Jerusalem prior to taking up duties at Taibach, Port Talbot. During his 12 1/2 years pastorate at Jerusalem, Mr Stephens has endeared himself to the members in general, and was held in highest esteem by all who have come into contact with him, and his departure is viewed with regret.

On Monday evening a farwell meeting was held when he was presented with a typewriter, etc, and Mrs Stephens with a silver tea-pot. A full report of the meeting is given elsewhere.
